A Look At Downtown Gatlinburg

Although Gatlinburg is an area that is well known for its rugged terrain, beautiful natural scenery and The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, that's not all there is to this Tennessee city. Downtown Gatlinburg has a lot to offer as well. For example, if you want to visit the Ober Ski Resort and Amusement Park, there is an aerial tram that can transport 120 passengers from the downtown area to the resort while giving them a spectacular view. The area boasts all kinds of fun attractions for all ages to enjoy.

For example, one of the most popular attractions is the Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies. This is located very close to the Edgewater Hotel, right in the middle of the downtown area. This aquarium boasts an amazing variety of undersea life. There are sharks, tropical fish, sting rays, Amazonian creatures and much more. And coming soon, there will be a penguin exhibit as well. This aquarium is a wonderland for all ages and you can easily spend hours there. Ripley's also has a variety of other museums downtown such as Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Ripley's Haunted Adventure and Ripley's Marvelous Mirror Maze and Candy Factory.

Also located downtown are attractions like Earthquake, a simulation ride. The Hollywood Wax Museum is also in the area. There are several miniature golf courses as well as traditional golf you can enjoy. The mini golf courses offer fun extras like black light play and theme holes. For a taste of adrenaline, try Gatlinburg Ziplines Family Adventure. Also downtown is the Guinness World Records Museum. Paranormal enthusiasts will love Hauntings – A Live Ghost Show, Ghost Haunts Tours and Ripley's Haunted Adventure.

And let's not forget about the dining and shopping available in downtown Gatlinburg. There are shopping malls, small boutiques and specialty stores. And of course, the museums and attractions usually offer souvenir sales or have gift shops. When it comes to dining, you can find everything from fast food to five star cuisine. Many people don't realize what an energetic, activity packed city downtown Gatlinburg is, but you will once you visit. If you get tired of the downtown area, there is plenty of wilderness to explore. You can go hiking, fishing, camping or enjoy other outdoor activities in a woodsy cabin or the National Park.
